We’re counting down to 8x8 by focusing on the collaborative brews that will be making their debut at the festival, and reveal *just* a little bit more about the hidden treasures and beer-soaked pleasures that await on October 16-17!
NBeer and DaoBrew wanted to try something a little different. Most ambitious beer collaborations go high ABV and intense flavour – all barrel-aged this and imperial that. This one’s fascinating because their goal headed the other way: can you make a delicious beer with as low an ABV as possible?
The answer will be pouring across all sessions at 8x8 – a 2% ABV “Low-Key Fruit Sour” with big hits of tropical fruit and very subtle hits of alcohol.
Founded in 2013 in Beijing, now national, NBeer’s cool brews and wacky design have been a huge influence on spreading the good word of craft beer in China. They've won a jaw-dropping 67 medals in the last two years!
Some of those will take pride of place at 8x8 – we’re going to get their award-winning Jieshan Peach Sour IPA, the award-winninger Beijing Gose MODERN and the award-winning-est Winter is Coming Weizenbock!
DaoBrew was born in 2009, at the dawn of Chinese craft beer, in a 30 square meter basement in Chengdu. They're one of Chinese craft's fearless experimenters and have worked on everything from IPAs for a theatrical drama to ales for one of Chengdu’s best rock bands.
